It has been a big year for Fashawn. Murs and Fashawn released a collaborative album earlier this year and now the release of Champagne and Styrofoam Cups has come just a few months later – his 11th mixtape to date. I’m not overly impressed by the production. It was kept simple, shifting the emphasis onto the lyrics more than anything. In the absence of any overly produced tracks, the album kind of lacks that wow factor and makes the listener really have to give each track a chance. Nothing immediately catches the ear and makes the feet tap. With that said, after a few listens “Worldwide” and “Heaven” are two of my favorites. Wiz Khalifa makes an appearance on the tape on “Medicine Man” as well.
